The CRC for Diagnostics (CDx) is an unincorporated joint
venture that commenced on the July 1, 2001. It evolved through
a successful second round funding bid and continues to bring
together, in collaboration, a number of Australian research
institutions and commercial companies involved in diagnostics.
The administrative centre is based at Queensland University
of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane.
Governance
The Governing Board is responsible
for the performance of CDx and for guiding its strategic direction.
The Board comprises an independent chairman, three independent
members, a representative from each of the CDx Participants
and the CEO.
Scientific Review
An independent Scientific Advisory Board
(SAB) reviews formally the science on a six monthly basis.
Its mission is to ensure the rigorous and ongoing challenging
of the research programs, milestone achievements, “knock-out”
project scenarios, alternative approaches, competitiveness
and customer focus. This group reports directly to the Governing
Board with close liaison with the CEO and the Scientific Director.
Intellectual Property
Diatech Pty Ltd, as trustee for
the CDx Participants, holds CDx intellectual property (IP),
enters into contracts and exploits the CDx IP..
Strategic Management
The Strategic Management Group (SMG)
meets regularly to consider issues relating to research, education
and training, and commercialisation. The SMG undertakes to:
- improve commercial awareness of research outcomes and
imperatives
- improve scientific awareness of commercial imperatives
- ensure earlier and more meaningful evaluation of new research
and education and training projects
- ensure earlier commercial input into, and direct involvement
in, project outcomes
- encourage early scientific and commercial appreciation
and evaluation of new intellectual property, resulting in
the rapid lodgement of provisional patents, when appropriate.
